Brooklyn is a place that defies easy definition – but thankfully, the literary legions never stop trying.
Books by Brooklyn is a new place for writers, newcomers and veterans alike, to contribute to the literary canon of the city’s – and country’s – most dynamic county.
Simply put, we’re dedicated to publishing work by Brooklyn authors and/or books about Brooklyn.
We’re a co-publishing company – authors are partners in all phases of the process. Arrangements will vary from project to project, but the one commonality is that we’re seeking authors as passionate as we are about producing work worthy of the history and spirit of possibility embodied in Brooklyn.
The company’s first book is Raising a Beatle Baby: How John, Paul, George and Ringo Helped us Come Together as a Family. The book, about how one Brooklyn family bonded over the Fab Four, is a memoir by Books by Brooklyn founding editor Jere Hester, a lifelong resident of his favorite borough.
The Books by Brooklyn team is going from raising a Beatle Baby to birthing a publishing company – we’re only just taking baby steps. Feel free to drop us a line, offering you ideas and your talents, and perhaps we’ll chart a course together.
