Jere Hester is founding director of the award-winning NYCity News Service at the City University of New York Graduate School of Journalism. Hester, a former city editor of the New York Daily News, also writes a pop culture column for NBC Local Integrated Media.

He doesn’t remember when he first heard the Beatles, who broke up when he wasn’t quite four years old. They were just always here, there and everywhere for him.

Raising a Beatle Baby: How John, Paul, George and Ringo Helped us Come Together as a Family is his first (published) book. It’s also the first production of Books by Brooklyn, a publishing company co-created by Hester and named in honor of his lifelong home, a dynamic place filled with history and the spirit of possibility.

Hester lives in the Kensington neighborhood with his wife, Theresa Wozunk, and their daughter, Ella, in a house filled with music.
